Technology Academy's 100th consultant

Last week we announced that Technology Academy has passed a hugely significant milestone: training and placing 100 consultants in leading UK businesses.

To mark this huge step our CEO, James Uffindell, has been speaking with Rebecca to find out how Technology Academy helped her to realise her dream of working in tech, and what it's been like working as a full stack engineer Lloyds Banking Group.

Becca - 100th consultant interview

Bright Network set up Technology Academy to tackle diversity and inclusion issues in a sector that is in crisis, and give graduates who have the curiosity and drive to succeed in technology a pathway into software engineering - regardless of their background or what they studied.

Becca's story sums up everything Technology Academy is about.

Being female and from a background in English Literature, the idea of following her passion and working in technology, a sector which favours computer science and STEM and is just 19% female, seemed an unlikely prospect.

However, her tenacity and drive combined with the dedication of our Technology Academy trainers allowed her to lay the foundations for a career in tech during our 12-week bootcamp.

Since then she hasn't looked back, taking on every challenge that has come her way and embedding herself in her team at Lloyds Banking Group thanks to the support of her new colleagues and the Technology Academy team.

When asked what she would say to any other students considering a career in tech, Becca said:

"If I can do it, so can you. I would never have pictured myself to be where I am right now, because I've come so far. With the help of Technology Academy, which has been crucial, and a lot of tenacity and dedication, you can really push yourself to go far. You just have to be brave and take that leap."

Rebecca, we can't thank you enough for taking the time to speak with James, and we look forward to seeing you continue to thrive in your role as a full stack software engineer.
